“Those who say it can’t be done, are usually interrupted by those doing it.”
Be kind. Everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about.
I am honored to serve as Kyrene de la Mirada’s principal and have been proud to be an administrator in the Kyrene School District since 2014. I bring over 30 years of experience in education, having worked with students across the elementary, middle, high school, and collegiate levels. Originally from upstate New York, I moved to Arizona in 1990 and, after a brief two-year stay in Chicago, returned to Arizona in 1997-where I have continued to build both my personal and professional life.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University and two Master’s degrees from Northern Arizona; one in Elementary Education and one in Educational Leadership.
How did I end up in Arizona from New York? My journey to Arizona began with athletics, as I earned a full athletic scholarship to Arizona State University as a member of the ASU Track and Field team, competing as a high jumper. I currently hold the New York State High Jump record at 6 feet, ¾ inch, was the number one high jumper in the nation during high school, and I am a two-time All American High Jumper.
As the principal of an elementary school, I believe that every child has the potential to grow, learn, and thrive when given a safe, loving, supportive, and inclusive environment. Foundational to our work is the belief that education is not just about academic achievement, but also about nurturing the whole child-socially, emotionally, and ethically.
Beyond my professional role, I am a wife and a proud parent of two sons. I am deeply committed to supporting students, families, and staff, and to fostering a school community where every child is encouraged to achieve their highest potential.
